Mary Immaculate Academy is my Alma Mater. It will never be SMAJ. Those who changed this name are people who do not have a sense of history.They robbed those earlier graduates of the school to connect to. Come to think of this: What if the Jews change the name of Jerusalem to some other names because they do not like it anymore, just like the RVM sisters who changed the named of my Alma Mater without consultation. What if the politicians of Jasaan change the name of my hometown to Bairan - so SMAJ becomes passe. Those who moved for the change of this name will never in my lifetime earn my respect. They are people who will never be educators - they are otherwise. Another thing, what if my parents changed their names with the approval of the Court, who will I go home to. And what will I tell my children about my roots. It is sure to require a lot of explanation, just like the RVM sisters did. Igo ra unto ka moingo ug MIA, na SMAJ na man hinoon.
